Autumn Attire

Whether you adore it or loathe it, there's no denying the fact that plaid has been one of the most pervasive patterns in history since the times of 1850 and older. The likes of Vivienne Westwood and many more have displayed dozens of plaid, ranging from the smart and sophisticated look, to totally punking it up, accustoming all fashion junkies - not to mention the impact plaid had after the release of 1995's Clueless, which no one can deny they don't love.

Summer season meant summer clearout, which also meant reminiscing over old clothes that were once a staple item in my wardrobe. It's funny how my style changes over time and the things I once used to love I now squirm over - it's always good to have a giggle over things you used to wear and what you thought you looked good in... though some things will remain obligatory.

I bought these vintage trousers back in the day when creepers and striped leggings were the craze (oh, what a throwback). I bought them thinking I would wear them everyday, but honestly, I don't remember ever wearing them more than once, which was disappointing to say the least. So, as it goes, I threw them to the back of my wardrobe and never set eyes on them again until about 2 weeks ago when I was trying to get rid of clothes before I began a new chapter in my life. Originally, I was going to sell them to make an extra bit of cash before uni, but something just wouldn't let me part with them, and I fell in love all over again.

What makes wearing these tartan trousers all the better is that I'm yet to find someone who also owns the same pair - or even close, which gives me a little sense of achievement and satisfaction for finding them when I did. I've never owned a pair of trousers that have a more perfect fit than these; super high waisted, tight around the bum (always a win) and loose around the ankle. The puppytooth/checkered pattern is really beautiful and the complimentary colours of reds, greens and browns make them perfect to wear in time for Autumn.

It's clear to see that Bella Hadid's collection of plaid pants is pretty astonishing (as is the rest of her wardrobe), and in some sense has given me a boost of inspiration when it comes to pairing these trousers with a sensible ensemble. Pairing these check pants with a plain black or white strap vest or bodysuit with matching trainers gives the outfit a clean finish, as any detailed top would complicate the outfit and sit heavy on the eye.

I would've made an unforgivable mistake to throw these babies away, as I've now bagged in a perfect outfit for me to wear through the Autumn and Winter months which is figure flattering as well as comfortable! So as it stands, plaid won't be handing over it's top spot in the fashion industry anytime soon. What are everyone else's Autumn must haves?
